blogathon / greed sex and murder

Hi!

In case you haven't heard, Blogathon 2003 is this saturday! Blogathon is a 24-hour blogging-for-charity marathon by our own Cat Connor:

http://www.blogathon.org/

(Looks like the deadline to signup is end of day on the 23rd (today or tomorrow, depending when you read this) so if you're interested, hurry!)

My friend Joe Peacock (of http://mentallyincontinent.com/) is participating and for an insane stunt will be writing an entire novel in the 24 hours.

As soon as I heard it, I decided the challenge was too good to pass up, so I'm blowing the dust off my novel outline and am finally going to go for it.

The name of my book is "Greed, Sex, and Murder". (But it's not what you think; if you want an (outdated) hint what it's about, see here:

On saturday, I'll be posting progress every half hour about it on my blog at:

Now the cool thing is that this is also to raise money for a great cause. Each blogathon participant chooses his or her own charity to raise money for.

Well, I've chosen Breakthrough Collaborative as my charity.

http://www.breakthroughcollaborative.org/

Breakthrough Collaborative coordinates Students Teaching Students programs throughout the US. It's an educational program where high school and college kids teach summer school to 6th, 7th, and 8th graders (as well as year-round tutoring). I worked as a teacher for them after high school (back when it was called Summerbridge) and it was one of the most rewarding experiences of my life. (Real school should be that fun!) Not only does it help older kids gain experience for a teaching career, it's a fantastic opportunity for the younger kids, many of whom are at risk of falling behind in the normal school system.

Anyway, it's a wonderful program, and so I'm proud to support it in this year's blogathon. Of course, it only works if there's sponsors around... So... SPONSOR ME! :) You can pledge whatever you like; either a flat rate or by the hour. It's a great cause, tax deductable in the US, will make you feel all warm and fuzzy, and if my novel ever gets published [but don't hold your breath!] I'll even send you an autographed copy. So click here and sign up:

And then come watch as the world's next bestseller [er, whatever] unfolds before your very eyes! :)

Thanks!!!
