today's logfiles

Whoops.

Yesterday, I tested mod_cronolog's ability to append to people's logfiles, and it was fine. Unfortunately, I didn't think to check the ability to create new logfiles, and of course, this didn't work at all, so today's logfiles on mercury and scandium don't start until just now. Sorry!

server updates

First, I have removed mod_gzip for now. It caused a few problems with MIME types for some customers, and of course complicated the load problems on mercury and scandium. So it's out of here. I don't mind a slightly higher bandwidth bill if it makes the servers run more smoothly.

Along those lines, I've got mod_cronolog running on mercury and scandium. Both servers were down completely for 5-10 minutes earlier today while I made the change. I can't say this has completely solved the load problems, but it certainly seems to have minimized them. I'll be installing mod_cronolog on titanium and vanadium in the near future.

You shouldn't need to do anything unless you happened to put some mod_gzip configuration options in your .htaccess file. (In which case you need to remove them!)
